The volunteers in our department are valued and appreciated. Volunteering with the Probation Department offers students and community members opportunities to gain hands-on experience.
They may work in conjunction with probation officers in the office, write memos to the court or interview victims and defendants. They may coordinate recreational activities, facilitate youth programs or verify school attendance. Volunteers also may help at the Juvenile Detention and Assessment Centers by facilitating social awareness programs, mentoring minors, providing tutoring or leading other activities under staff supervision.
Requirements for Volunteers in Probation:
Must be at least 18 years old
No felony convictions
Not on active parole or probation
Must have a high school diploma or GED
Must have a valid California ID or driver’s license
Other requirements may apply
